On April 11th 2009, I decided to work for one year as a freelance journalist. I have no other income except from what I write for publications. The economic pressure to get a part-time job is strong as my money runs out, and I'm a wicked procrastinator. Yet cheques do arrive once in a while...

Freelance Days: Other Jobs

Just a little update from freelance land.

I mentioned earlier that I'm contemplating some part-time work to compliment my freelance income. (Or should I say lack of income?)

One is a part-time research position for a TV show about science. I'm still waiting to hear from them, but from what I understand, it'd be a 4 hours per day deal from now to Christmas. That would certainly pad my precarious income and allow me to keep freelancing. The subject matter is really interesting: climate change and "green" technologies being developed in Saskatchewan and around the world.

The other job is a full-time job. If successful, I guess I wouldn't be freelancing much at all, or at least, only sporadically. I won't say what the job is yet, but it's a great organization that I believe in, the requirements match my skill set exactly, and the financial security and benefits would be unbelievably good. (Like, it makes me delirious to think about such a salary. What would I do with such income?!)

Anyway, I'll apply and see what happens.
